Tales of India

This costume was created as part of a collaborative performance project based on the Indian folk tale The Charmed Ring. Our character was the Witch. We worked under the supervision and guidance of textile artist Priya Velusami and costume designer Gabriella Slade.

This costume is in two pieces: a cropped blouse with overlapping panels creating cutouts on the chest and back, and a full circle skirt with a pink lining (to show while spinning). It includes decorative embroidery, shisha style embroidery with sequins, layers of stenciled print and block print, and multiple trims. All of the fabric was dyed by us.
